Brush Fire Artists Show

A beautiful show at Monora Park Pavilion and the Brushfire Artists Group is filled with wonderful people and amazing artists. I really enjoyed the Gala Night and the chance to mingle with friends and family. I loved chatting to all of you and especially the Mayor of Mono, Laura you really seem to have focused on the best interests of our community. Yay, green space and hiking trails. I did not have time to take many photos on the weekend as I was busy doing a large demo painting, but I did manage to snag a few incriminating shots of a few of the artists.

Now that was fun!

What a weekend. The Open Studio was an eye opening experience and very gratifying to see so many people out. Especially during the snow-storm on Saturday! Yes, snow - but it was warm inside with hot apple cider and snacks and lots of art to see. Sunday started off a little strange as our puppy Boots decided to come along for the ride as we checked our signs in the morning. He was getting a little impatient I think when he started to honk the horn on the truck! I do believe he figured out that if a short honk got our attention, then a long lean on the horn would get even more! Smart puppy!
We had a huge crowd on Sunday, friends and relatives and more food. Great day and thank you all for joining us!

What a great Day

I wish every day started with a bit of sun like this. I am almost ready for the open studio this weekend, just have to re-arrange some of the dust in the house and get it looking shiny. I hope to get some good weather though at this time of year, you never can tell. No problem, we will have hot Apple cider and snacks in the studio.
Most of the signs are black with white letters and red arrows, pretty simple but I did get some with pictures, they look pretty cool. See you at the show!

Hanging Around

Another nail in the drywall, ahh It's showtime again! I am getting the house ready for my Open Studio this weekend and I am crossing my fingers for good weather. I just sent out the newsletter and posted it all on Facebook so now it's on to hanging paintings. I am looking forward to seeing them all in one location, I have lot of new ones this year. I hope to see a lot of familiar faces and new ones at the show this weekend.
I have a guest artist again so I have to be really strong about not shopping (too much) as I have started to collect a few things every time she has her work here! Too Cool.

The view from third line near us is awesome at this time of year

Back to the Drawing Board

Or The Canvas, I should Say!

Went to a lovely little spot in Belfountain to paint the last colours of the Season. I was not the only one there, even on a Friday (the Thanksgiving weekend) it wa packed with tourists. I had a lot of spectators but I have fun with crowds and everyone was so enthusiastic with praise, I had to pull my head out of the clouds, just to paint.

Orangeville Art Group

The Annual Fall Show and Sale for the Orangeville Art Group, proved to be one of the biggest yet, with an outstanding group of artists displaying their work and a huge crowd. The event was held at the Tony Rose Arena again this year and even more people attended than expected. The volunteers were amazing and we had food and coffee provided by local sponsors. The Sunday afternoon was capped of with speeches from many local dignitaries and the awarding of prizes. I was fortunate to receive Jurors 1st choice award for my acrylic rockscape, "Pebbles". It was a real honour and I thought that there were so many amazing pieces of work to look at so I feel very privileged to receive the award and to be a part of such an exciting show.

Culture Days

What an amazing day in the park! They had a tent ready for me and all I had to do was set my gear in to it. It was a very busy day, most of it I spent getting to meet so many amazing people that live in and around Orangeville. The entertainment was awesome and a good time was had for all. The sun finally came out around 12:30 burning off a heavy fog and warming up for the dancers who had been shivering in the wings, yes wings! I started a background for a painting that I would not get to work on till the following week at the Orangeville Art Group Show (next Blog)

It must be Autumn!

So cold out, going to bring some of my paintings in to display in town, but had to put on fleece lined cargo pants just to get out of bed this morning! I will probably be
roasting by this afternoon! Look for me this Saturday
at the Culture Days doing a painting demo. I will be wandering around the park with my easel in tow, unless find a spot in the park. I left it a bit late to apply as I never know what the weather is going to be like outdoors. I will keep you posted if I get a spot in the park.

Mono's Big Day Out!

Mono's Big Day Out

This was one of the most organized shows I have ever attended. the people were amazing and the display looked great. I had just finished several of my badlands paintings and I am looking forward to doing more. It is 40 above right now, but the weather is temporary. Must take advantage of it while it is here.

I painted a couple of small paintings yesterday, 8x8 on gallery canvas. It is fun to do this every once in a while as it helps to limit me with the amount of detail as I can not fit it in. Back to a larger canvas today.
We have an Art Show at Mono Centre this Saturday for Mono's Big Day Out. It should be quite neat as the gallery portion of it is indoors thank goodness. I can not believe the change in temperature this week. What happened to summer? Looking forward to some great fall shows and colours in the area.

The fish were jumpin!

Had a lovely week painting and getting out into the great outdoors at the same time. Went with my good buddy Kelli to a nice little river up north. We spent Wednesday painting followed by a great dance practice in the evening, and Thursday we returned there to finish up. This time at the end of the day we went for some cool off time in the river. Actually swam with the fishys! Salmon were swimming up stream but they moved very quickly out of our way when we went in the water. Quite amazing!
